Chapter 51
The morning sunlight bathed the Blue Mountains in a soft glow as we reluctantly packed up our campsite. The echoes of laughter from the previous night lingered in the air, but a sense of anticipation for our journey back to the city replaced the carefree atmosphere.
As we descended from the mountains, the winding paths seemed less inviting than before. The lush landscapes that once filled me with awe were now overshadowed by concern for Oliver. A concern that I felt deep within me. The joy of exploration was replaced by a pressing need to return to the city and ensure our baby’s well-being.
The car ride, which had been filled with animated conversation on the way up, now carried a somber tone. Donovan, sensing the shift in our mood, maintained a comforting presence, occasionally sharing anecdotes to lighten the atmosphere. However, the worry in my heart continued to grow with every passing mile.
