Chapter 40
I woke up scared the next day, before seven o'clock in the morning.
I couldn't tell if it was the rooster singing, or a car with loud music passing outside the house, or the screams of a neighbor who called for the dog and echoed through the walls of Telma's humble house.
Anyway, I woke up as if I had just submerged from a deep ocean. I gasped and sat down, seeking solid support to understand the situation.
