'Is he about to ask me ou-?'

Her thoughts were cut short by his deep voice 

"Would you play in the musical competition with me?", he asked slowly when she did nothing but stare at him, instead of replying to his pleading.

"What?!", Kaylee had not expected that at all. And that question just spat out from her mouth. She hadn't meant for it to sound like that.

"No no, I did not mean to ask what. I thought you wanted to ask me something else", Kaylee muttered but he heard her anyways. 

"Something else? Like what?", he asked curiously, his eyes slightly going wide a bit.
