Chapter 50. The Fire

Kavinsky got to the kitchen and met his mother perfectly fine but her hand was on her chest as her breath came out strongly.

"What happened, Mom?", Kavinsky asked 

"Sincerely honey, I do not know. I was talking about all the things we could do together and Kaylee smiled. I picked up the lighter and switched it on. I saw her trying to contain something but her face suddenly turned pale and she shouted out forcefully. I guess what she was trying to contain was the scream" 

"Was the lighter still on when she screamed?", Kavinsky asked as he looked at his mother.

"Yeah, I think so", his mother replied nonchalantly.

"Why did he even ask her that?', he thought and shook his head 

"I will be right back, Mom", he said and rushed out of the kitchen, through the front door, and did not stop until he was in front of Kaylee's house door.
