Chapter 38

Nathan's POV

As I slowly opened my eyes, my hand instinctively reached out to touch the empty space beside me on the bed. Panic began to rise within me as I realized that Alex was nowhere to be found. Why had he left me here alone?

Determined not to make a big deal out of it, I composed myself and prepared to head downstairs. Deep down, though, I yearned for those mornings when I would wake up and find Alex's warm gaze as the first thing to greet me.

With a glimmer of hope, I made my way downstairs, hoping to catch a glimpse of him. But as I descended, a disquieting thought crossed my mind – Xavier. That enigmatic figure seemed to have an interest in Alex. The mere thought of him near Alex stirred a wave of intense anger within me.

I hastened my steps, my heart pounding, until I reached the scene that unfolded before me. Alex and Xavier engaged in a serious conversation, their expressions filled with a gravity that heightened my unease.
