Chapter 39
Alex's POV
Humans possess a primal instinct, deeply ingrained within their nature—an instinct known as pride. And right now, I could see Nathan, consumed by an intense rage. He felt as though his pride had been trampled upon, wounded, and hurt.
I could empathize with him, truly. I understood the depths of his emotions, as he refused to be sidelined, yearning to remain an active participant in this battle. He sought vengeance for his family and for me, but above all, for his first love, Laure.
His fists clenched tightly, his gaze fixated on the ground as if it held the secrets of the universe. I longed to calm his raging storm, to ease his pain. And so, instinctively, I wrapped my arms around him, enveloping him in a comforting embrace.
At that moment, I felt a sense of solace and unity. The barriers between us seemed to dissipate, leaving behind an unspoken connection. No longer did we experience the awkwardness that once existed.
