Alex's POV

As I settled in my room after taking a bath, I decided to call Nathan and get an update on the situation. It was also a chance for us to catch up a little.

"Hi," he greeted me, his voice carrying a breathy tone. "I miss you," he said sweetly, causing my heart to flutter. I could almost imagine him biting his lips as he spoke.

"I miss you too," I replied, trying my best not to sound too vulnerable, but failing miserably.

He sounded like home like we hadn't seen each other in ages. I missed him more than words could express.

"What are you doing right now? Are you alone? Have you eaten? Is Xavier with you?" he bombarded me with a flurry of questions, one after another. I wondered if he was even taking a breath in between.

"You don't sound so excited," I teased him.

He chuckled. "If only you knew how much I want to be with you. Ahh! I'm so jealous of Xavier. I wish I were in his position. I want to go on an adventure with you instead
