Keira’s POV

My eyes scanned the words written on the book that was spread out on my thighs. It was business gibberish, and quite frankly, I was having a hard time assimilating anything. Even though I had no classes, it did not stop me from studying.

Despite the fact that my mental health was crumbling away like worn-out paint.

I flipped to the next page and decided to focus. I made myself more comfortable on Clint’s fluffy sofa and relaxed into it.

My eyes trailed the words, each letter, but my concentration waned thin. My mind instantly drifted away, and I stared at the pages blankly. I forced myself to focus once again, but my attempts were futile. Minutes had passed, and I was still stuck on the first line of the page.

“This is not working,” I muttered and slammed the book shut.
