As Ginger went upstairs with my brother, I watched as his eyes lit up at the sight of her, how his smile stretched from ear to ear, and the way he held onto her to prevent her from falling or feeling insecure. I had never seen my brother act that way before. With the girls he dated, I always saw him disinterested, acting as if he didn't care what others were saying or as if what they were saying wasn't relevant. It was like an adult trying to tell his younger child not to eat the hidden candy.
