“What? They just let you in here because you’re Lucien Vercetti?”
Anna crossed her arms, leaning her hip against the edge of her office desk. She stared at him like she couldn’t believe the audacity of the universe for allowing him into her building unannounced. The white lilies and soft pink roses he held looked ridiculously gentle in contrast to the tension swirling around them.
Lucien lifted a brow. “Not solely why, but that’s part of it. I told them I wanted to surprise my fiancée with gifts.”
“That’s not a good enough reason,” she grumbled. “I could use this place—”
“Bunny,” he cut her short mid-threat, voice soft but firm. “You won’t even hug me? It’s been days.”
“Why will I hug you? I’m still angry at you.” Her tone was sharp, but the moment the words left her mouth, she caught the subtle shift in his expression.
