Chapter 65
“A contract? Makes sense. So somebody summoned him?”
Lily shook her head. “No, not quite. I think that this guy escaped Hell, ate his way across China, then got captured by someone who has kept him under lock and key, much like I was. Tell me, am I onto something?”
When the demon didn’t reply, Lily turned the holy water back on. The Glutton screamed in pain, which made Lily turn the speaker off. “Okay, so I think we have some pieces of the puzzle now. Summoning a demon this powerful would take an immense amount of magic. Capturing one? Not nearly as much.”
“That still doesn’t tell us who sent him,” Ingrid replied.
“Nope. Which makes me wonder.” Lily stroked her own chin, suddenly lost in thought. Between the muffled screams of the demon, Ingrid heard Tasia howl somewhere else in the Library.
“Lucky girl,” Ingrid muttered.
“I’ll be right back.” Lily stood and sashayed out of the room. “You can let our friend marinate for a bit.”
