Jessie nodded and flashed a quick grin. "I also don't want to do this, but I think it's best if we follow through on our commitments. I think it's best if we go our separate ways as planned. We're getting divorced in a week, so please let's keep things simple for both of us." He did nothing to halt her as she headed for her room. 

She didn't seem irate about the envelope at all. Her reaction wasn't going in that direction. If only she had spoken to him, he would have understood what he had done wrong to arouse her ire in this way.

He heard the loud bang on Jessie's door and found his way to his room. 

Jessie sat down on the ground and sobbed, covering her mouth to prevent herself from crying out loud. She was leaning her back against the door. She continued to cry. Din Cooper is the man she loves, but she is unable to tell him. Her mother was wrong. She would be unable to resolve this issue in any way. She would not be able to obtain Din Cooper in any way.
