After dressing it, he placed Kim's hand on her lap tenderly. "Thank you." Kim said. James smiled and nodded as he cleaned the stained knife.

"I'm going to hang onto this." He was referring to the knife, which he kept in his pocket and had been bandaged so it wouldn't hurt anyone. "I didn't know your mother passed away. My condolences for that."

Kim shook her head. "Don't be. I held my father responsible for completely forgetting about her."

"I thought Mrs. Ghorsy was your mother when I saw the way she treated you."

"I don't even resemble her at all." She laughed.

"Well, you've got her nose." He teased Kim. "No step mom has ever taken care of their stepchild in a good way the way Mrs. Ghorsy did. If you hadn't said it, nobody would have known that she wasn't your real mother."

I agree that she is a good woman who has always supported me in the same way a mother would. Every time my father yelled at me for being reckless, she stood by me."
