Chapter 23

Nathan was enjoying the food Antonio had bought him when he got a call from an unknown private number. Nathan had a tracking device that was no less sophisticated than a government agent. No phone number could remain 'private' after calling Nath. But this number was different. Nathan was both curious and wary. He finally decided to pick up the phone and let the person on the other end speak first.

"Hey, Nath!"

Nathan blinked. It was a heavy, crisp voice. He was familiar with that voice. "How are you and Antonio? It's me, Carl!" came a friendly chuckle from the other end of the line.

Nath smiled slightly when he heard Carl's name. "Oh, it's you, Carl."

"Don't be so alarmed, it's no fun." Carl joked. "If you don't watch out, Antonio and I will die faster."

Nath chuckled for a moment. "What's wrong?"

"Well, you're always to the point, just like your boss!" Carl chuckled on the other side. "How's Antonio?"
