Chapter 59
Harper's POV
The car is waiting just outside. I climb into the backseat, offer the driver a faint smile, and close the door behind me. The moment the engine hums to life and we pull away from the curb, I reach into my bag and take out my phone.
My fingers move quickly across the screen. I open the app, navigate to the payment section of my account, and change the bank details. I make sure everything is updated, double-check the numbers, and then quietly tuck the phone back into my bag.
I sit back against the seat and stare out the window, watching the city pass by without really seeing it. My thoughts aren’t on the traffic or the lights or even the weekend ahead.
I’m not going back.
Not this time. Not ever.
I feel sick. There’s a tight knot twisted low
