Valerie Will POV

“What are they talking about?” I turned to look at Patrick.

His face had turned pale and his jaw clenched. He couldn’t hold my gaze for a second. I could see the guilt in his eyes.

Patrick bribed a judge?

First of all, that was against the law. Secondly, what the hell? I knew something was up when he won the custody battle. There was no way in hell a sane judge would give him full custody of our son.

I could always tell something was fishy, but I didn’t want to point fingers at anybody without proof. The thought crossed my mind a few times, but I didn’t want to believe Patrick was capable of something like that.

I felt so betrayed and heartbroken. He was so desperate that he went to the extent of bribing a judge. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down.

My whole body was filled with rage, but the most important thing at the time was to find a way to escape from the scary men.
