Summer’s POV
“Tell them the truth, Summer! Don’t blame me for your irrationality! You should be grateful that I didn’t contact the police sooner after you nearly murdered me." Her voice was so loud that my eardrums nearly ruptured. "Just wait, and I’ll see to it that you go to jail just like your secretary!”
I raised my feet again, adjusted my pillow, and rested my back completely. “Whether or not you acknowledge it, you don't have any power to decide the truth. Like what my husband said when Celine was accused of, the court doesn’t accept mere assumptions.”
Just before I shut my eyes, I remembered to suggest, “It would be useful for you to get a copy of the surveillance camera video from the backyard. Handing over the footage to the police is the only way to determine whether Hailey will have to face jail time or not.”
The silence was so profound it felt like a physical presence, wrapping the room in its embrace. However, I was not done
