Chapter 49
Summer’s POV
With a calm demeanor that never faltered, Steven rose from the plush beige couch and took slow steps towards me. The sound of his footsteps echoed through the spacious room, causing my heart to gallop. As his piercing blue eyes locked onto mine, a shiver ran down my spine. The shock in my expression was conspicuous, while Harvey’s face grew even more sullen.
How long had he been standing there? I had not seen him earlier. It was strange since he was quite tall and exuded an overbearing aura that was hard to miss. I could feel my fingers turning icy-cold, as if he was passing judgment on me for something I didn’t even do.
Harvey stood his ground. “Mister Carter, I won’t apologize if my question offended you. Summer is my best friend, so her well-being is my business,” he said adamantly.
