Chapter 66
It was late in the evening, and she was finishing up for the day when he got out of the car and walked into the café. He had to admit, she had done well for herself. It was so beautiful here, he thought, looking around. He felt her presence before he saw her.
“Dom?” He turned around to look at her.
“Gen.” He answered. His eyes ran over her from the top of her head, taking in the messy bun of curly hair he missed touching, down past her shirt and black jeans under her apron to the practical sneakers on her feet.
“What are you doing here? Is everything alright?” she asked calmly, but he could tell by the dilation of her pupils and the shortness of her breath that she was far from calm.
“Can I speak to you? I won’t take long.” She only nodded and gestured to the seat.
“How are you, Gen?”
“I’m…” She shrugged. “I’m doing alright. How are you?”
“I can’t tell right now.”
“Why are you here?” she blurted out.
