Chapter 154
Emily’s POV
Slowly, I sat onto the very edge of the mattress, directly opposite him. My muscles were tense, ready to run—even though I knew there was nowhere left to run.
“Is he alive?” I whispered, pushing myself up against the headboard, clutching the sheets to my chest.
Declan stared at me, his crimson eyes glowing in the dim light. “For now. Yes”
My voice broke slightly. “Tell me what I need to do to save him.”
Declan leaned back slowly. “Come here.”
Fear slid ice-cold down my spine. But Nathan was alive, so I stood up.
I forced my shaking legs to move and crossed the distance between us. Declan watched me approach with something dangerously close to satisfaction.
When I stopped in front of him, his hand lifted to his mark on my neck before cupping my face.
My stomach twisted with disgust. But there was something worse—that horrible, intoxicating pull his dark power always had over me. I hated that part most.
