Chapter 64
Nathan’s POV
“I’ll do more than hurt you if I smell you near her again,” I whispered, my voice sounding like grinding stone. “I will break you.”
I didn't wait for her to answer.
“Guards! Get this trash out of my sight.”
They dragged her out as she screamed my name.
“You’ll regret this, Nathan. You’re choosing the wrong girl.”
The door slammed, leaving only the scent of her fake perfume and my echoing rage.
I turned back to the bed. I dropped to my knees and took Emily’s cold hand.
“I won’t let anyone touch you again,” I vowed.
I could have sworn I saw her finger twitch. I fell asleep in the chair, clutching her hand in mine, hoping to catch even the smallest sign of life.
I woke up in the middle of the night. I looked around the room, confused. Why the hell did I wake up? The room had a soft orange glow. It was coming from the bedside lamp next to Emily’s bed.
I took her hand in mine and gasped.
