Chapter 187. Scattered Hopes
Maxwell sat behind his massive desk working, the morning light casting long rays across his luxurious office. Papers were neatly arranged, and his computer screen displayed an array of emails demanding his attention
But his mind was somewhere else. The soft click of the office door opening brought him back to the room. He looked up to see Sinclair entering, with an expression that was what looked like both hesitation and determination at the same time.
Maxwell’s eyes narrowed, his features hardening into a look of indifference. He had not expected to see Sinclair again, especially after their last heated confrontation.
“Maxwell,” Sinclair greeted, attempting a smile. “Good morning, son. I hope I’m not intruding.”
Maxwell sat back on his chair and observed his father, his eyes dark and cold as always.
