Chapter 194. No Need for Explanations
Maxwell stood in front of the mirror, adjusting his tie. The bedroom was silent. His expression was blank, his thoughts a tugged in and hidden behind a the mask of his outward composure.
Bethany was in the room, waiting for a moment. She watched him for a few minute and wondered within herself if she could do it, then she gathering her courage. Her heart pounded in her chest, a bit mix of fear then resolve driving her forward.
“Maxwell,” she began, her voice almost trembling, “Uhm Can we talk?”
Maxwell glanced at her through the mirror, his eyes cold and distant. “What is do you want to talk about wifey?” he asked, his tone without any affection.
She took a deep breath, moving closer to him.
“I need to explain something. Uhm about the night you had returned home from the time you had abducted.” Bethany tried to steady her voice, but she found herself stuttering.
