Chapter 77
As Parker rushed to his department, a knot of anxiety tightened in his stomach, his mind reeling with the gravity of the situation unfolding before him. Spotting another detective, he wasted no time in approaching them, his urgency palpable as he sought out Max's team leader.
"Max is about to do something very stupid," Parker blurted out, his words rushed and urgent.
The team leader, Lex, raised an eyebrow in concern, his expression mirroring Parker's growing unease. "What kind of stupid thing?" he inquired, his tone tinged with apprehension. "Max is always going overboard."
Parker's jaw clenched as he struggled to find the right words to convey the seriousness of the situation. "He's going to accuse the commissioner of covering up a case," he replied, his voice barely above a whisper.
The detective's eyes widened in shock, his disbelief evident as he processed Parker's words. "What?" he exclaimed, his voice filled with disbelief. "That's insane!"
