Titus turned to face Jade as Max stood up to fight again. “It could work, but where would we get monkshood?” Titus asked. 

"I know where. Wait for me here." Jade tiptoed up the stairs, and Titus entered to assist Max. He did not want to harm Selena’s body. He couldn’t, but he needed to prevent Estry from fighting. Jade returned with a necklace and tossed it to Titus. 

“What should I do with this?” Titus inquired, repeatedly examining the necklace in perplexity. 

“It’s a corundum with monkshood. There is a small role. A little monkshood can do the trick. Watch out!” Selena kicked Titus before he could react to Jade’s yell, causing him to fall to the ground, the necklace flying out of his hand and landing in front of her. 

“Watch as I ruin things for you.” Estry raised a leg.
