Chapter 43. Mom Is a Dissappointment
When her phone rang, she considered the possibility of a recipient. Since Jordan’s funeral, no one has called her. Her only friends were Dalett and Trisha’s mothers. The wives of her husband’s hunting buddies. They had also kept their secret from their children.
When she went to retrieve her phone from the bed, she was surprised to see her father-in-law’s name illuminated from her phone. Why would he call, she wondered? “Good morning, father,” Isabel said as she took the phone call.
“You should pay a visit to the organization. You are needed.”
“What? Please forgive me, Father. I am unable to visit. I have an appointment at Selena’s school.”
“Isabel, this is critical. Selena is not going to mind. You have let her down before, too. This is not the first time.” He ended the call abruptly. Isabel took a seat on the bed and considered it. She could not take the chance of her daughter hating her again.
