Chapter 53. Infiltration
Detective Hanson’s POV
[Two days later. Forensic Building at night]
“Sir, shouldn’t we be getting going? It’s really late and almost everyone has gone home. And frankly, I could use a little rest myself,” Charles said yawning.
“That’s just pathetic, good Charles,” I said, “I mean, how do you expect to make it at anything with your stupidly unnatural propensity to sleep?” I asked.
“I don’t know about you sir, but I would gladly pick my sleep any day than some unnatural propensity to overwork,” he said while looking at me as though he were referring to me.
“Touché, Charles, touché. But I’ll have you know that with your laissez faire attitude to work, success isn’t anywhere in sight for you,” I said.
“Well, I’ll be the judge of that,” he said, “Plus I’m still gonna succeed regardless of my so-called laissez faire attitude to work,” he added, mockingly mimicking what I had said. I giggled a little, shaking my head in pity for the young man.
