Maurice looked at Ella after she finished narrating Gilbert's plan to him and he got angry just thinking about how the family could be so callous.

"So you mean they did all those things because of a simple acquaintance?" Maurice asked and Ella nodded even though she knew it was more than a simple acquaintance.

Maurice thought about the new information he just gathered and he was relieved that Hadley was not involved in the conspiracy and she was just a victim like him. He could now see her in a new light without having doubts.

"Don't show your face," Maurice says and Ella furrows her eyebrow in confusion wondering what the man was saying. "I know you might see me as an unreliable man but can I ask you not to show your face in front of people and let this play go on with your sister as my wife?" Maurice says and Ella's eyes widened in surprise.
