Chapter 247
Chris's POV
I sprawled out on my small apartment's worn leather couch, back and bottom pitched against the laptop screen, staring at a blank page. Megan's autobiography was due within a week, yet I didn't write a word since we fell out. Still, I remembered her voice, anger and hurt echoing.
"You lied to me, Chris. How could you?"
She had opened a gash that seemed to bleed on and on. I had never particularly wanted to lie to her, yet all my insecurities and fears had heaped barriers between us. Now, as I sat down, things needed to be mended. But how?
A knock on the door broke me out of my reverie. I waited for a moment before standing up to answer it. In at the door, opening it, was Jane, a surprise for me.
"Jane? What brings you here?" I asked as I moved aside to let her in.
She walked in; her eyes moved around the cluttered room before resting on me. "We need to talk, Chris."
