Detective James' POV
I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Sergeant Sarah, a colleague I had trusted and worked with for years, was rummaging through the evidence room, her eyes scanning the shelves frantically.
I had never been suspicious of her for a while, but I had never thought she would stoop to this.
I watched how she tried the spare keys on the doors and tried severally to open the doors forcefully.
I moved closer without her knowledge until the door was opened.
As I watched, she pulled out a file and began to rip it apart, the papers scattering across the floor.
My heart raced as I realized what she was doing... she was trying to destroy evidence. Evidence that could bring down the Syndicate, evidence that could put an end to the violence and corruption that had plagued our city for so long.
I couldn't let her do it. I had to act fast. I drew my gun and burst into the room, my heart pounding in my chest.
