Chapter 99

Megan's POV

I stand in the courtroom, my heart racing as I watch my father being led away in handcuffs. The brawl we had earlier at the syndicate headquarters.

It had ended with him being arrested, and now he's facing charges for his behavior.

A long story but here we are!

But as I look at him, I can't help but feel a sense of confusion. My father, the man my mom knew and loved talked about is not the same person I see before me today.

But as I look at him now, I can see the fear in his eyes. He's not in control of his actions, he's being manipulated by something or someone.

"Detective James!" I called as soon as I saw him within the courtroom.

"Thank God, I found you Megan!" He said.

"Follow me!" He added.

I follow Detective James out of the courtroom, my mind still reeling from the revelation that the Syndicate had been doping my father. We walk in silence, the only sound being the echo of our footsteps in the
