Chapter 89. I Can’t Stand This

Evelyn’s POV

James hasn’t yet woken up despite the signs he is displaying of being okay. He even moved his fingers some time ago, and I can only see that that was a very good sign.

I kept on trying to hold myself as I started thinking and falling deeper and deeper into the pit of “he might not wake up.”

A teardrop fell as the thought crossed my mind. I’ve been strong for far too long, and it seems like it’s all going to be for nothing; I still blame myself for this despite it not being all my fault.

“If I had just...” I said, slightly stopping myself in the process. “It’s not your fault, Evelyn, it isn’t. He is a fighter, and you know it, we will fight this and conquer it.” I said to myself, trying to lift my spirit, but just then, a call came in.
