Chapter 4

Anya went to work and did her job as if nothing had happened. It was already a month since she caught her husband cheating on her. Since then, he had met with more and different women. She already felt numb from all these. And she wouldn’t let it affect her work.

After long hours and an exhausting workload, it was already time for her out. She sighed and leaned back on her chair, and took her bag. She dug into her bag with her eyes closed, tired. When she felt a familiar band in her hand. She took it out and opened her eyes to stare at it.

Allen (M) 7.5 lb.

It was the hospital band of her baby, the only thing and proof that he was real. She took it home and considered it her treasure. Her heart once again hurt, and tears welled in her eyes. How she wished, countless of times, she could see him again.

Just one hug, one kiss.

Maybe she was really wrong. Little does her husband know if he thought she was awful, then she thinks the worst of herself. She gave away the baby she had carried in her stomach for months. Her own flesh and blood. For money.

She was no different from her husband. She’s also a monster. Anya had continually locked herself in this thinking, slowly falling into darkness. A deep abyss of voidness, with no one saving her.

She sighed and stood up abruptly. She was starting to suffocate with all these thoughts, and she needed air. She quickly fixed her things and went out. Not even bothering to say goodbye to her colleagues, which were noisy from planning a night out that they didn’t notice Anya leaving.

When Anya arrived outside, she breathed in the cool air of the night. She looked up in the starless night, dark and as empty as her life. She turned to the road and started walking home.

Suddenly, her phone rang from inside her bag. She took it out and saw the name of her husband. Her heart felt cold, but still, she accepted the call.

“I’ll take you to a birthday party, go to the address I will send you,” Was all that he said, and he hung up.

Anya then received a message about a hotel address. She stared at it for a moment. What is her husband planning? Maybe he was planning to talk to her? She sighed, a wishful thinking.

If he continues to torment her, then maybe this will be the opportunity to finally end things with him. It was better for them to let go of each other.

She took a cab to go to the address. She arrived later at a luxurious hotel. Many businessmen in suits were coming and going from the hotel. She stared at it in a daze before she took a step in. She was a little nervous, she had no idea what they would be doing there. Will she see another scene of her husband with another woman?

Because of her daze, she bumped into someone. He was tall, with an exquisite and expensive suit.

“I’m so sorry, sir,” she hastily apologized and did not dare to look up. She was nervous about the accident and what awaited her in this hotel, so after she said her apologies, she immediately walked away. Never daring to raise her eyes to look at the man.

She went to the restaurant within the hotel, and to the private room, her husband informed her. When she went in, the only people there were Andrei and an old fat man. They turned their heads when she opened the door.

“You’re here,” Andrei stated as he stood up and approached her. He took her shoulders and prompt her inside as he locked the door.

“Andrei..” Anya attempted a slight struggle.

“Mr. Schneid, this is my wife,” Andrei ignored her silent pleas as he introduced her to the man groggily. He stench of a strong smell of alcohol, obviously drunk.

“She is as beautiful as you said, come join us,” Mr. Schneid gave her a not-so-pleasant smile. Andrei pulled her and placed her in between them.

“Andrei, what are we doing here?” She whispered with gritted teeth. She doesn’t feel good about this.

“Now, now, Ms. Anya, don’t be afraid, let’s drink,” The man said as he offered her a glass. She doesn’t know what to note first, his creepy offer or the title he called her. Obviously, he didn’t consider her as a married woman, and neither did the other man beside her, who is coincidently her husband. What a joke.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Schneid, I don’t drink,” She rejected strongly. She then diverted her dark stare at her husband. Her eyes told him to stop his visitor from harassing her.

But Andrei only lightly glanced at her and smiled. Brought a glass to his lips and drank as if nothing happened.

“Nonsense, there are drinks in front, it’s foolish not to drink,” Mr. Schneid retorted as he pulled her arms and brought the glass to Anya’s lips. She tried to push it away, but afraid of spilling and offending the man who seemed important to her husband, she drank and took the glass in the process. Mr. Schneid finally smiled satisfyingly, and let go of the glass. Anya immediately laid it down and wiped her lips. The liquor was strong, and she started to feel dizzy.

“I wonder why I’m here, husband?” she asked Andrei, silently asking for help to not let her drink anymore.

“I’m not good at alcohol, so it’s best if you two gentlemen enjoy yourselves,” She tried to avoid drinking and looked at her husband. Asking him to help her. But Andrei only had cold eyes for her.

“Come on, loosen up and let’s have fun,” Mr. Schneid said with lust in his voice. He continued to shove drinks at Anya, and she could only take them with tears in her eyes. And then, the man’s hands made their way to Anya’s leg. Anya finally couldn’t take it anymore and shoved his hands away, and stood up.

“It looks like you gentlemen are out of it right now. I would take my leave, have a good night,” She said with a shaking voice but still trying to fight the dizziness. She made her way out of the door when Andrei grabbed her arm and pulled her back.

“Mr. Davis, your wife is a bit feisty. What would you say if I taught her a lesson for you?” Mr. Schneid evilly said as he stood up and took off his suit. Anya stared at him in horror as he slowly made his way to her. She turned to her husband and tried to shake her arm off.

“Andrei, what’s the meaning of this?!” She exclaimed, but Andrei threw her to the man, and she fell into Mr. Schneid’s arms.

“I’d gladly accept your help, as well in our proposal?” He asked like they were doing a normal business transaction.

“I would surely, after I enjoy your wife,” He smiled creepily and with lust as he pulled Anya towards the bathroom.

“Andrei! Let go of me, Mr. Schneid! Please!” Anya tried pleading as she struggled to get out of the man’s hold. Andrei only looked coldly at the scene. She kept screaming, but her pleas were cut off by the striking pain in her back as the man threw her in the sink.

“No, help!!! Someone please..”

Save me

She screamed as her voice slowly gave away. The man climbed on her as she tried her best to push him away.

Save me

She could now only scream at her head as the man covered her mouth.

Until there was a loud bang as the door of the private room swung open.

The two men quickly turned their heads to the door. While Anya lay weakly at the bathroom sink.

There stood a man in an exquisite suit. He stood tall and imposing as he glanced dangerously at the two men.

It was Damon Castellano, the president of the Castellano group of companies.
