Chapter 147. You Are Safe Now

As soon as he says this, I feel even more pulled against him. His scent makes me feel calm.

"She will know it," I murmured, my words barely audible. It will wake her up, but she will not wake up at all.

"Lexcis-"

"No."

And then I no longer hear or feel anything until I sense like I am being put down. A soft sound can be heard.

"Bedtime, you are safe now. You can get up."

I am not. Again, I have no idea what time it is, but I do not fully wake up. Though I open my eyes and try to speak, I feel like I can't, until that feeling of being stuck goes away, and I can open my eyes and move again. I get pushed back down every time I try to stand up. Not too hard, but just enough to keep me on the ground.

We are back in the cave now, the one Lexcis and I stayed in while we waited to go up.
