Chapter 289. Walk Away

He emanates cruelty; you can sense it. It is as if he can hear my heartbeat. I ultimately glance aside so I can focus on Lexcis. I give him an encouraging nod and a nice smile, which appears to settle him down a little.

His emerald eyes are filled with concern and unrestrained wrath. He had been waiting for this moment for quite some time.

"You can all sit down," Arthur instructs. Lexcis almost flinches as he hears his voice. I almost approached him when the king quickens his pace; he gives me a weird look. Looking at my clothes.

"Miss Raven," he greets me.

"Your Highness," he wants me to bow, kneel, or curtsy, but I don't. He wants to murder me right now; I can tell by the way his hands clenched into fists.

The king sits, as do Lexcis and I, each of us focusing on the terrible guy next to us. King Arthur has not even met Lexcis yet; he is just focused on me.
