For a while, I was scared she'd never return to her usual self, but each passing day I see the true Veronica again. The obnoxiously optimistic and energetic V. Sorana broke her heart but she luckily didn't break her spirit. "I'm proud of you," I mumble, a faint smile tugging at my lips.

She glimpses at me over her shoulder, her brown eyes a little lighter today. "Don't make me cry, I swear my tears will freeze," she says with a playful tone, adding a hint of warmth to the air.

I laugh out loud at that, relishing in the moment. "You're not lying. I think my nipples just froze up and then cracked off," I joke, adding a touch of absurdity to lighten the mood.

V abandons the spoon on the ground as she heaves herself up, extending her hand to me to help me up. I take her hand without thinking twice about it; I see her sweet smile, it's what makes everything worth it.
