"Chantel, I'm sorry," Lexcis pleads as he grasps her cheeks. She shakes her head, dismissing the apology as she leans into him. Before she lets herself melt into him, her hand moves into her hair. It's very modest, but I know my sister; I see it happen.
She pulls away from Lexcis, abruptly turning to the left side of the stage. We follow her movements as she quickly throws the tiny dagger, and—
A man was holding a gun, directly aiming it at Lexcis.
The dagger she threw entered the opening of the gun, you know the part where the projectile comes out of? I think it's called the muzzle. I don't know; I'm clearly not good with guns.
Chantel tilts her head as she glances at the man; she smirks when she recognizes him. "Rhanes. As always, you weren't fast enough. Second. Again."
The ballroom is quiet enough so no one has to yell to be heard. The noble families are certainly looking at us
