When I note we're walking into their room, I freeze. That baby is crying too much for anyone to ever shut her up. "Chantel, I don't think-"

"Don't think. Just step in."

I sigh, closing the door behind me as I see Priya and Yang shake their heads. They have no hope that we can stop their baby from crying.

"Hi, beautiful," Chantel says as she boops Maia's nose, her voice soft and soothing. "You've been naughty, haven't you?"

The baby looks at her weirdly as if she understands her completely. "Hmm, no. You're not naughty," Chantel laughs, her smile infectious.

Her laugh is magical, it seems like it's not only me who feels that way. The baby agrees, she smiles too. Tears still stream down her face but she gives Chantel a little smile, a glimmer of hope amidst the chaos.
