Aldric chuckles, and I turn around to face him. My eyes widen, and my eyebrows nearly jump off my face in surprise. Heard it, right?

"I heard you yelling and screaming. Really, everyone did."

"No," I gasp in shock. "No!" Panic sets in. What a fool I am, how stupid I am, how freaking dumb I am.

"Freaking hell!" I swear, and right then I see the back door of the carriage swing open. Lexcis strolls outside with a cocky grin on his face.

"Chantel, your fights are always heard," he remarks, “nothing special about it.”

Oh. Getting violent! Yes, of course!

"Yes, I understand… Lexcis makes me mad all the time," I tell Aldric the truth because I want him to believe me.

I don't like lying, and I'm not even good at it. Being honest is always better. Truth be told, Lexcis does know how to make me mad all the time.
