The impact makes me stumble back but Zave's fast to catch me before I fall. His arms wrap around me as he holds me up. People are screaming and sprinting away when they realize that someone in here has a gun.

"What the fuck? Chantel?" Zave positions his hand on the spot where the shot hit me. "Birdie, are you okay? Chantel-"

"I'm fine." I grab my gun. The one I had placed in the secret pocket of my dress. I aim my gun at the woman who tried to kill my brother. "It's a thick corset," I explained to Lexcis who immediately rushed to my side. I don't look at him but I can tell that he's absolutely stunned and scared out of his mind.

Zave's still holding me, his arms are shaking. He and Lexcis are both staring at the place where the shot hit me. It's close to my heart, I won't lie it would've killed me if it had managed to puncture
