I let out a breath, but it's not one of ease. I still can't catch my breath. I start hurrying toward Lexcis and basically crash into him. He catches me, "She's here, Aldric said she must be here. Is that true? Did Dane confirm that?" I ask.

"He just did," he nods. "I was coming to get you right now."

I throw my arms around his neck and pull him close. Lexcis buries his face in my neck, taking a deep breath. I feel his hand in my hair and I kiss his collarbone.

Tears roll down my cheeks and I pull away to brush them off. Lexcis does it for me, kissing my forehead too. "We'll find her," he assures me.

"We have to, or I will destroy every useless guard in this place before I kill--"
