The whole ceremony was just stupid and it felt like a cage. Standing here and pretending that I give a fuck is even more annoying. I stood there, my expression schooled into something soft, something appropriately sad, something that might have fooled anyone watching me right. My lips trembled just enough to look mournful, my lashes lowered as if hiding tears.
But deep down? My blood boiled. My fingers twitched at my sides no matter how tightly I tried to hold them still. I could feel my heartbeat hammering against my ribs.
