Chapter 149

Eva’s POV

Rain’s eyes widened, the color draining from her face, and I tilted my head, savoring every drop of her panic.

“Well, well…” I purred, my hand still on the book leaning over the heavy oak table where she sat frozen. “What are you up to, Rain?”

She fumbled, her hands flying over the open pages as if ink could be erased with trembling fingers. The desperation was almost amusing.

“Nothing,” she stammered.

I let out a soft laugh, reaching across before she could stop me. My nails skimmed over the parchment, dragging the book closer. My eyes skimmed the lines, and then my grin widened, slow and poisonous.

“Sabotage,” I whispered. I lifted my gaze, locking on hers. “Planning to ruin Sienna’s precious little trials, are we?”
