DAMIAN’S POV
~NEXT DAY, DAMIAN’S SUITE~
It’s the night after I left Rain’s room with a broken heart. Yet she showed up at my suite just before sunset, her eyes were red from crying, and words were tumbling out in apologies before I could even speak. She begged me to forgive her, and said she didn’t mean the things she’d said. I believed her. Or maybe I just wanted to.
She asked to stay the night, and said she didn’t want to be alone. And I didn’t turned her away. Not when she looked that broken.
Now, hours later, I wake in the middle of the night to find the bed cold beside me. For a moment, I think maybe she went to get water. But then I hear the shuffle of footsteps on the floor. She’s pacing. My brows knit together as I push myself upright, blinking against the dim light.
