Not trying to tame my mouth, I couldn’t help but tease Laura.

“Is this the way you gasped when Joseph entered your room?” I asked, a smirk playing on my lips.

She blushed, not a good sign, and she walked out fully from the bathroom, wrapping her towel around her.

“He’s not that bad. I was surprised to see him here. He came to see how I was settling in,” she explained, twirling her hair with her fingers, looking love-struck.

My wolf didn’t like the fact that she was getting to like him; she was whining with jealousy. I gagged and made a face.

“What’s up with you? Are you not happy that at least I’m getting to like the person who might likely be my mate?”

To be truthful, I wasn’t happy, but to avoid a lot of talk, I forced a smile. “I’m happy. But can’t he ask you how you are settling down during dinner? It’s not nice for you two to be found alone before your mating ceremony.”

“He’s the leader of his pack; he can do anything as
