My heart tore in moments as I recognized his face and ran to him, desperation dominating my every step. Larry cut the rope and left him on the ground as I scanned his body for signs of life. I knelt in front of him, his face completely purple from the time he had spent on the tree.
“He’s still breathing,” Larry said, trying to revive him.
The doctors came and took him to the castle hall to make sure he survived. Seeing his face in that condition, I didn’t have much hope for him; he looked so bad that it was impossible for him to become the person he was before. His face looked lifeless. Why was he there and not Jason? It didn’t make sense, and I couldn’t understand it. I wondered if he had been set up.
The people around us were making a terrible noise. The king ordered that the entire area be searched until the real convict was found and that no one be allowed to leave or enter the castle until he was found.
