The escape became more and more complicated; it was extremely complicated to coordinate an exile with so many attacks happening simultaneously. The fires, the rumbling, and the collapsing parts of the castle made it impossible to navigate without encountering two or three casualties each time a piece of the roof collapsed.

We were on our way to the front, and Cadde suggested that we march to one of the safe houses he owned in the city, namely, one of the main buildings in the outskirts where he often stayed during vacations. This seemed very suspicious to me, but we had no choice but to trust him or face the possibility of staying and dying in the streets. The soldiers obeyed my order and followed me, meaning that we all had to go there, not just the wounded.

The entrance to the castle was populated by fanatics, and we had to fight our way in. Despite the advantage in numbers and strategy, they were eager to showcase the power they had gained over the crown.
