Chapter 209. Bleeding Dreams

Mirna lunged at me, jolting me back to consciousness, though I was as weak as a piece of paper. The sting had been very deep, making it hard to breathe, and the pain was so intense that I had to struggle to sit up. She delivered a blow to my eye that would have almost incapacitated me on the spot if luck hadn’t been on my side.
“Why are you doing this?!” I shouted, summoning what little strength my body had at that moment. Any attempt to fight back seemed futile; she was poised and ready to attack.
Looking like an enraged animal, she pointed at the newspaper and began ripping it mercilessly, scattering the pages on the floor. Cold sweat ran down my forehead, gradually spreading across the rest of my body.
