Chapter 295. Sibling Bond
DOVE
Nico crawled on the ground. I was about to stop him for fear that he was in this place, walking among so many broken things, among so much chaos. He was alone, small, fragile before the world. I didn’t want him to do it, I felt the need to protect him.
Carmen and Larry stopped me. By their looks, I knew that I had to let Nico look for his brother. No matter how hard it was for me to let him go, no matter how scared I was that he would get hurt.
He crawled as if he was playing, with the innocence of a child who knew nothing of war. He smiled, as usual, laughing as he tried to avoid obstacles. He started to move a piece of wood, of course he couldn’t do it because he was small. Larry helped him and then, he didn’t see anything underneath. So he made a face of disappointment.
Nico thought he was playing hide-and-seek with his brother. Because every time he reached a place he looked and laughed, he was a child playing.
