CLARISA
From my small trunk, which had become the most uncomfortable place in the world for me, I heard the constant explosions and tried to imagine what was happening. From the screams of the men below, I knew they were soldiers of the king trying to enter. Could they do it?
The guard had mocked, saying that their fortress was unbreakable, but the sound of the wood creaking and things being smashed on the ground could be heard. I wondered if it would be a good time to go out and see or if I should keep waiting.
Amy was dead, and Liam would blame me for her death, and if we crossed paths, he would kill me as an act of love for his deceased fiancée. Slowly, carefully, making sure not to make any sound, I came out of my hiding place until my body stopped contorting.
My eyes saw the mess of the corridors outside the room, even though the room seemed to look the same as when I hid. I took a few steps forward and felt the sound of a weak voice behind me.
